Making Your Own Aromatherapy Massage Oil
Making your own aromatherapy massage oil can be a lot of fun and can give you an entirely new income stream. You can sell the same aromatherapy oils that you use during massages so that your clients can use that at home or give them as gifts. The key to a great aromatherapy massage oil is using only high quality essential oils to scent the oil. Fragrance oils are synthetic and have no therapeutic value. Organic essential oils are the best essential oils to use, but if you can't afford pricey organic oils use pure essential oils if you want your massage oil to have therapeutic effects. Here are some other tips for making your own aromatherapy massage oil:
Use a good base - Sweet Almond oil is one of the best bases for massage oils because it isn't greasy or sticky and is absorbed quickly by the skin. If you want to create a luxury blend of oils for a base mix Sweet Almond oil with another thicker oil like Flaxseed oil. Extra virgin olive oil is also a great base for massage oil and is easy to get almost anywhere.
Less is more - You only need a couple of drops of essential oils to scent aromatherapy massage oil. Essential oils are very potent so invest in a good medicinal dropper and only use a few drops of each essential oil in each batch of massage oil.
Blend carefully - If you're going to blend essential oils to make unique fragrances blend the oils first, and them mix the blended oils into the massage oil base. Don't put the essential oils into the massage oil base separately or the scents won't blend properly.
